The present Mothers' Union of Priory Church is in its fourth year. We are still a small group and encourage new members.
Members of Mothers' Union are asked to pursue the following objects:
· To uphold Christ's teaching on the nature of marriage and to promote its wider understanding.
· To encourage parents to bring up their children in the faith and life of the Church.
· To maintain a world-wide fellowship of Christians, united in prayer, worship and service.
· To promote conditions in society favourable to stable family life and the protection of children.
· To help those whose family life has met with adversity.
The way we put these objectives into practice in Christchurch Priory is as follows:
The "traditional" Mothers Union meets on the fourth Monday in the month at 10.30 a.m. in Room 7 Priory House, where we have a varied programme of speakers and have a short time of worship. This group mainly comprises mature ladies and we call ourselves "The Monday Morning Group".
For young mothers and fathers, we also have a group called "Family Forum" which meets on the first Wednesday evening of the month with a programme geared towards bringing up a young family. This again is held in Priory House - but in Room 1 at 7.30 p.m.
Our other venture is the monthly "Church Mice" a service which is held in The Priory Lady Chapel on the second Monday of the month. The service is for pre-school children with their mothers or carers. It is run by Kate Roberts, who is a qualified Drama Teacher who has her own young children, and is very much enjoyed by the children and adults.
Being part of the wider Mothers' Union organisation means that we try to send a representative number of members to Deanery and Diocesan events, which usually take the form of special services in different Church locations.
We do extend a warm welcome to anyone who would like to join Mothers' Union and ask that they contact our Chairman - Mrs Maria Wareham on 01202 474451.
The Group meets during term time every Wednesday between 10am and 12 noon. Parents and guardians with toddlers and babies are very welcome to attend
A good variety of toys, an activity table, and a singing session makes for a very enjoyable morning for all.
Tea, coffee, squash and biscuits/fruit are included in the price of £1.50 per family.

The
Parish Welcome Group welcomes new members to the Church and
distributes information on Church Services and events in the Parish.
Social events which are held to raise money for this include coffee mornings on the last Friday of each month in Priory House from 10.15am to 11.30am, Wine and Cheese evenings, Quizzes, Barn Dances and Fashion Shows.
If you are a newcomer to the area, the Parish Welcome Group invites you to fill in a Newcomers Card. These are available at the back of the church or contact the Chairman, the Rev'd Alex Smith, via the Vergers' Vestry, telephone 01202-485804.
