Donations and Tour Charges

Last updated Monday, 25 February, 2013

Entry to the Priory Church is free but we do ask that you make a voluntary donation of £3 or what you can afford. It costs about £1,000 per day to run the church and we do not get any Government or other grants – we rely on donations from our congregation and visitors. Therefore we would be grateful if you would make a donation when you visit, gift aiding it if you are a tax payer.

We do charge for tower tours (adults £2.50, students £1.00 and accompanied children 50p) and the museum (adults 50p), please ring in advance to make sure they are open. Photography permits are available at a cost of £1.00, unfortunately tripods are not permitted but visitors are welcome to use monopods.

We also provide special guided Tours of the Priory. Tours start at 6.30pm, last for about three hours and include parts of the Priory not always open to visitors (e.g. Tower, Crypt, Roof Space and Archives). These tours are not suitable for children under 8 and pre-booking is essential. Tickets £10.00 per person (including Souvenir Booklet) obtainable from the Verger at the Priory. (01202 485804). Visit the Events Calendar to see list of forthcoming tour dates

At other times Guides can be provided by pre-arrangement through the Verger to give an organised party a full conducted tour of the church. A charge is made for such a tour (currently Adult £3.50 and child 50p), which usually takes about an hour, a further 20 minutes should be added if a Tower/Museum visit is wanted, when available.

Tours can also be arranged for School Parties - Adult £1; Child 50p (not applicable to schools within the parish); British and Foreign Students £1.
