Behind the Scenes at the Priory

An opportunity to see behind the scenes at one of Dorset's best known historical buildings, the Christchurch Priory Church, occurs again when its special evening tours recommence for the summer.

Starting on 25th May, and then on dates until August, members of the public can visit areas of the 11th century church not usually open. These include crypts, roof space, belfry and tower, with its magnificent views over the harbor and coastal areas from the Isle of Wight to Purbeck.

The specialist guides will relate the mystical and legendary stories associated with the famous building along with details of the many historical, literary and military figures memorialised on its walls.

As tour numbers are limited, booking is essential through the Verger's Office at the Priory Church on 01202 485804.
