Bob Chilcott A Little Jazz Mass

This very special service features Bob Chilcott’s wonderful ‘A Little Jazz Mass’ score, performed by the combined Christchurch Priory Choirs and Festival jazz ensemble under the direction of Simon Earl. Chilcott’s Mass brilliantly fuses jazz and choral idioms, promising an energetic, expressive and exultant Sung Eucharist service.

‘A Little Jazz Mass’ premiered 20 years ago in June 2004 at Crescent City Choral Festival, New Orleans. It has since received countless performances at concert halls and churches across the world, including St Paul's Cathedral, London.

The service also includes music by Will Todd.

There will be a voluntary collection at the end of the service.

Organ 25 celebrations – join the party!
Photo of the organ at Christchurch Priory

Experience The Priory’s awesome Nicholson pipe organ at one of many events to celebrate its restoration 25 years’ ago.

Considered to be one of Britain’s finest pipe organs, with over 4000 pipes and 63 speaking stops, the versatile Nicholson organ has the flexibility and power to be played as an accompaniment to choir and orchestra or as an impressive solo instrument.

Marvel at how it replicates the sounds of other orchestral instruments, and feel its intensity as its low notes reverberate right through you. And witness the dexterity of the organist ‘dancing’ between the manuals and pedals. A must for any music lover!

All events that feature live organ music are marked with this symbol:
