Vivaldi The Four Seasons; Gloria in D

Tickets: £25, £20, £18 and £15

Enjoy Vivaldi’s most celebrated pieces performed by outstanding musicians in the glorious setting of Christchurch Priory.

Escape to Venice, 1723, for an enchanting journey through each of Antonio Vivaldi’s vividly depicted and contrasting ‘Four Seasons’, with solo violinist Mark Derudder and the Festival String Orchestra led by conductor Simon Earl.

Revered violinist Mark Derudder, Co-Leader of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, has been previously credited for his “virtuosity and technical assurance, plus a warm tone and idiomatic sense of style” (Seen and Heard International). At this concert you will enjoy virtuosic playing from Derudder as he performs Vivaldi’s seminal work – the ultimate Baroque repertoire.

The second half of the concert welcomes an ensemble of singers to join the orchestra for a performance of Vivaldi’s much-loved ‘Gloria’. This expressive and uplifting cantata-mass will be a joy to experience in the atmospheric Priory – a building renowned for its superb acoustics.

Drinks will be available to purchase during the interval at the Festival’s special Cloisters Bar.

Organ 25 celebrations – join the party!
Photo of the organ at Christchurch Priory

Experience The Priory’s awesome Nicholson pipe organ at one of many events to celebrate its restoration 25 years’ ago.

Considered to be one of Britain’s finest pipe organs, with over 4000 pipes and 63 speaking stops, the versatile Nicholson organ has the flexibility and power to be played as an accompaniment to choir and orchestra or as an impressive solo instrument.

Marvel at how it replicates the sounds of other orchestral instruments, and feel its intensity as its low notes reverberate right through you. And witness the dexterity of the organist ‘dancing’ between the manuals and pedals. A must for any music lover!
