Vibe (For years 6-8)
Last updated Wednesday, 3 February, 2021
Vibe is a youth group for young people in school years 6 – 8 that meets twice a month on a Thursday evening. The club has a loose structure where young people can come and hang out, get involved with activities as they wish. Vibe is led primarily by volunteers who are DBS’d adults plus young leaders.
We want to create a safe and fun informal environment full of laughter for young people from the local community to be able to come and hang out and make new friendships. It is a place where young people will have an opportunity to explore relevant themes from a Christian perspective and ask big questions; a place to engage in activities and games or to just chill and have a chat and share life!
Vibe is organised by the Parish of Christchurch. It has a mostly informal structure, where young people hang out and make new friendships. They can get snacks from the tuck shop, play video games, do fun activities, board games, chill out with friends etc. We would like to engage with the interests the young people have and their ideas for activities. At some point during most sessions there will be a short 10 minute slot with some input about topics of interest and relevance to young people from a Christian perspective; such as social media, self image, anxiety etc. We will be sharing bits from the Bible, learning from how Jesus lived when he was on earth, and there will be opportunities to ask questions and explore issues around faith.
There will be occasions where we organise trips out and special events and get involved with church projects.
At present due to the Covid pandemic Vibe is currently meeting on Zoom, from 7 PM – 8 PM on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month.
