TOURS OF THE PRIORY
The Priory offers a variety of guided tours, of both general and special interest, as outlined below.
On-the Day Mini Tours
We aim to make guided Mini Tours available on the day of your visit. Ask at the Welcomer desk, or look for a notice that will be displayed at the back of the church when a Steward is present to lead them:
- A General Interest mini tour around the ground floor of the Priory, pointing out key aspects. Length negotiable on the day.
- A mini tour of the Tower, involving a climb up 176 spiral steps. From the top of the bell tower there is a spectacular view across to the Isle of Wight. Length around 20 minutes.
- Children aged 8 and over welcome if accompanied by an adult
- Access subject to weather conditions, and the absence of nesting peregrines
Charges: £5 adults, school age children free
Fixed-date Tours
A number of approximately one hour General Interest and Special Interest Tours, led by Tour Guides, are advertised on the Events page of the Priory website certain months of the year…[insert link to page]…. Special Interest Tour topics may include:
- Art in the Priory
- Exterior tour of the Church and Priory grounds
- Historic Graffiti
- The Priory and the Second World War
- Tudor Times and People
- Heraldry
Charges: £8.00p per adult, children from 8 £6
Private tours for groups
Enquiries about private group tours, both General Interest and Special Interest, are welcome. Email tours@christchurchpriory.org in the first instance.
All tours are led by a member of our knowledgeable teams of Guides and Stewards.
